1 Wedding, 16 LBS, & 82 Workouts
It’s January 1 and thousands, if not millions, of people around the country are making their goals and resolutions for the upcoming year.
I am a bit of a freak when it comes to this. My joy for playing with numbers and thinking of hundreds of possibilities in my head is similiar to most people’s joy for opening presents on Christmas day. What can I say? I’m weird!
Anyway, on to the real reason for this post…My goals for ’09. I have a real problem with disappointing people and letting them down, which I try and play to my strength as much as possible. How so you ask? I make people aware of my goals so that I am not only working hard for myself, but also for others. Even if they could care less, I am still risking the possible embarrassment of failure…which I will not allow. I strongly recommend you try this if you are like me and people strongly influence you.
On to the goals…
-The knot.com has me slated to get married in exactly 155 days from now, which I am setting as my long term goal point. Basically, my goal is to be the same man that my beautiful fiance started dating nearly 3 years ago.
About 18 months ago, I decided to do a little Morgan Spurlock Supersize Me project and totally let myself go by having a poor workout routine, high stress levels, and a large consumption of artery clogging foods. I wanted to prove to everyone how easy it was to lose weight and fat quickly when you were out of shape and ate like crap (If you are calling bull, you may be correct). Unfortunately, I developed a love for Boston Cream Pies, Blue Moon’s and Sicilian pizza that has caused me to transform into a lifesize version of Chewbacca meets the original Jared from Subway. This needs to change for me to reach that goal!

-I figure that I need to lose about 7-8 % body fat to get back to the day when I was made fun of for eating only half my 1 lb burger and save the rest for the next day. This 7-8 % body fat equates to about 16 pounds of body fat.
-To accomplish this goal, I will be conservative and shoot for about 1.5 – 2 % loss of body fat per month, which will slightly surpass my goal on wedding day. I will aim for a total of 82 workouts between now and June 6. This comes out to just about 4 workouts per week, which I will track on a calendar. My workouts will consist of something very similiar to the 28 Day XTreme Fat Loss program, with some slight changes I have thrown in.
-My diet will be a mainly low carb, low calorie meal plan that consists of organic and fresh foods. My beverages will consist of flavored water, brewed iced green tea, Prograde Lean, and an occassional skim milk or wheat beer.
-My daily supplements will consist of the Big Three: Fish Oil , Multivitamin, and Post Workout shake. For those of you not taking these I highly suggest it. There are thousands of supplements out there, but these 3 are the extreme essentials that every qualified trainer recommends.
-I will track my progress bi-weekly with measurements and keep you all updated. Eventually, I will even release some pictures that I am sure will be used to blackmail me at one point down the road.
- I hope the outline of my long term goal helps some of you get an idea of how you can make your own goals this year. Keep in mind, this is just my long term goal. You should also have short term goals and rewards along the way. It could be something simple like buying new clothes or something crazy. You choose!
